Cambel's elementary put on OOVOTO day (Our Own Version Of The Olympics, aka field day) at the end of the year, and all of the second grade classes presented the Frog Follies. For an adoring parent, it was charming and entertaining. For everyone else, here are the highlights in pictures:
Cambel and one of his best friends Aiden
Cambel was a narrator and made me promise not to tape him. I ended up breaking that promise because who can fight the urge to hit record when their child is in front of a microphone? But I will at least keep part of the promise by not posting the video. You are welcome Cambel--and the rest of my promises I really will keep.
Aiden had this amazing hat that Oliver wanted to try on, which of course to 2nd grade boys was hysterical...
...and adorable.
Team shirts--he goes by Cam at school. I keep trying to call him that, but for now he is still just Cambel to me.
For OOVOTO day Cambel ran a couple of races, shot baskets, and did a water balloon catch. I think his perception of how he would perform did not exactly match his performance, but he absolutely loved the whole day (even if he did mistake the whistle for the start of the race as a sign to stay still and wait--oh well, there is always next year).
Ada and her awesome teacher Ms. G
Ada ended her kindergarten year with the Super Reader award. Considering that I failed to even teach her the entire alphabet before her first day of school, this is nothing short of miraculous. She had a great year and is loving her newly acquired skill of reading books on her own.
Her class put on a program at the end of the year where they danced and recited poems and made us parents cry with pride. (I am such an amazing photographer and this is some of my best work--one for the senior slide show)
After the last day of school I asked Cambel to clean out his backpack. I had the feeling he had been hoarding a few things. This is what he had been carrying around for weeks. He might have a problem.
So that's it for Ada's kindergarten year and Cambel's 2nd grade year. We officially have a 1st and 3rd grader--and a preschooler!
