Dinsmore Homestead

We met Kevin's parents and his sister and her family at the Dinsmore Homestead near Cincinnati. This homestead has been owned by the same family since the early 1800s and is filled with a beautiful old home, fascinating relics and hundreds of stories as told through letters and journals. They held a fall festival there a few weekends ago and we decided it was worth the trip. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had a great time.

Pure enthusiasm written all over the faces of these budding historians. Pure enthusiasm.

Oliver perked up at the chance to walk around.

Ada and Cambel were momentarily interested in the sheep wool this woman was turning into yarn (on a sidenote, had I lived in this time when in order to have clothing you had to begin with the actual lamb, I think I would have mostly been forced to go without clothes).

Things really got exciting when Cambel and Ada got to make their own pots.

Ada was captivated by this.

But she really fell in love with the pony ride.

Oliver was content to stand and watch.

Cambel was a little less sure about mounting the beast, but he did it and was sort of glad he did.

The day ended with a family picture that turned out mildly good.
