You should call this one "The Great Father"

I have survived another week of single-motherhood. Kevin arrived home last night from what was  hopefully one of his last trips to Scotland to meet with his supervisors about his dissertation.
It is much easier now with Cambel and Ada than it was when they were littler, but it is still painfully clear that I am not cut out for single-motherhood. And the kids really need their dad.
I pulled together the last bit of my patience and gentleness last night and drove us all to Indy to pick him up. I was really wishing I would have had my camera to capture their excitement when they saw their Daddy coming down the terminal. (I pulled out my phone and got a fuzzy picture, but my technological ineptitude will not allow me to ever transfer it out of my phone). I successfully resisted the urge to hug him and then hand him the kids and run off by myself and today we are all happily back together at home.
Kevin bought some little gifts for the kids and they were so excited to see what they were.  Ada got bubble gum and some fancy twistable crayons and Cambel got a Lego sticker book. Kevin really hit a home run on this one. Before he went to bed, Cambel said to me: (and I'll have to paraphrase a bit)
"You should write a blog on the sticker book that is even better than the Wii. You should call this one the great father."
You are exactly right Cambel--he is a great father. Especially now that he is home.

(and wait, the sticker book is better than the Wii??? The Wii you saved all your money for? And just think how many sticker books you could have purchased!)

Try single-motherhood for 6 weeks while your husband rides across the country on his bike...Seriously, I'm glad he's back, I know what it's like!
