The list didn't say that!

Ada spends a chunk of her playtime imitating what she sees Cambel doing. So the other day, when she said she wanted to follow the "map" (which was really just a subscription card from a magazine) I wasn't surprised. Cambel loves to pretend he is following a map to find treasure, even if the map doesn't make sense and the treasure is an old toy he "hid" himself.
What did surprise me was my stroke of PURE GENIUS to use the map game as a fun way to get ready for a nap. Ada, oblivious to my real intentions, wholeheartedly threw herself into nap readiness. The list on the map directed us to go potty and then get a drink and head upstairs. Unfortunately while she was in the bathroom Ada hit her head on the corner of the cabinet. Through her sobs she managed to cry out
"The list didn't say that!"

I think this might be a metaphor for my life. Several times a day I could cry "the list didn't say that!"
It just wouldn't be a cute and funny as when Ada said it...

My best moments of motherly ingenuity are always ruined by things not on the list. :)
