May

Cambel's Birthday.
May 1st Cambel turned 12. That's puts us one year away from a teenager. Which means I'm getting old.  I say it every year, but time really does seem to be speeding up.
Cam wanted to celebrate with a family dinner and 2 friends (plus his yearly trip with his Dad to Kings Island). It was fun to hang out with his friends and watch them joke and play football in the backyard. We really like this kid and who he is becoming and we are so glad to be his parents.

5th Grade Graduation.
I was a bit cynical about a 5th grade graduation, but it ended up being a really nice event. Cambel has a good class with lots of great kids and it was little emotional to see them start them leap from elementary to middle school.
They gave out 3 "Citizenship" Awards and Cambel got one of them. We are so proud of him! (and I might have gotten just a little choked up). He seems to be doing okay in spite of our parenting:)

 His teacher Mr. V

Kings Island.
They rode all the rides and ate all the food.

Swim lessons. Complete with goggles that make you look like a bug. Oliver said now that he knows to stick his bottom up in the air he thinks he can swim.

Georgia. Thanks to some generous babysitting by Kevin's parents, we took a 3 day trip to Georgia to celebrate our upcoming 15th anniversary. It was so wonderful and we are glad to still like each other a lot after 15 years. I'm a lucky girl.

Talent Show.
Ada had to play her song after the girl next to her performed her concert piece. Seriously, the girl is some sort of prodigy and played amazingly well. So not only did Ada participate, she earned a little but of resilience. Because it was a tough act to follow.

 Fishing Trip.
Kevin and Cam fished with a college friend. Someday Cam's going to be able to touch the fish after he catches it. Long term goals are good.

Field Trip.
Oliver's class visited  a wildlife park. There were preserved animals and live animals and sack lunches and friends.

 Asbury Student events.
Living in Wilmore means you don't have to be a super parent because 1. lots of other parents here are and super parents invite your kid to their cool parenting stuff and 2. Asbury hosts things that include baby chicks and crafts and bounce houses so your kids have an awesome time and hopefully hold you (and not just AU) responsible for the fun childhood memory.

School birthday Celebration.
When your birthday is in June, you have to celebrate it at school in May. Oliver is always up for cookies and snacks and a crowd of children singing Happy Birthday, whether it's his birthday or not.

OOVOTO day.
We watched them run, shoot baskets, do tug of war, relay race with water, and scoot on paddle boards. They came home with ribbons and stories. Another successful "olympics"

End of year Awards.
Oliver was named "Amazing Athlete" and Ada was given the "Whopper" award for telling good stories (most of them very wordy and detailed)

Ear piercing.
Ada got her ears pierced after a family end-of-the-year celebration dinner at Olive Garden. She was so so excited and plunked down lots of birthday money to make it happen.

We rounded out the month with water in our crawl space, a new sump pump, and some disgusting crawl space work by Kevin. He'll want to remember this and I think he will appreciate me posting evidence of how hard the job was:)
