Friends

Adoption has connected us to people we wouldn't otherwise know, and strengthened relationships with other families in our life who have adopted. This summer we got to meet up with a few of these "adoption friends."
While at Chick-fil-A one day I recognized a mom and her son that I have seen only online. I introduced myself and soon our Congolese boys were playing together. It was sweet to see these 2 boys who share a birth country playing together right here in Kentucky.
We also got to meet our friends from Anderson who brought a little girl home from Thailand. Her mom and I have talked so much about our kids before we even knew them, while we were waiting for them, and since they have been home. We have prayed and cried together and rejoiced to see our children home, so it was special to see these two kids together.
A mutual friend from Indiana connected me to another mom near us who also has a son from Congo. We worked together to have a little "Congo families" picnic with a few other families. Not everyone could be there, but between us there were 4 Congolese kids (including the one from our random Chick-fil-A meeting). It was fun and encouraging to talk to other moms who went through the same process we did and share some of the same passions.
