Count it all joy

A couple of weeks ago was Cambel's class field trip to the pumpkin patch, and also his class fall party. And since Cambel is still in the "my parents are so cool" stage, he wanted me to come. On the bus. The bus packed full of kindergartners that had apparently eaten only sugar for breakfast. The chaos called to mind a certain Bible verse:
"Count it all joy my brothers whenever you face trials kindergarten field trips of any kind, because you know that the testing of your faith sanity produces endurance...(James 1:2--edits mine--James never had to go on a kindergarten field trip). "
I exaggerate of course. It was a joy to be able to go with Cambel. (Not a joy I would like to repeat weekly, but a joy nonetheless. And, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger).
It was interesting to see his classmates and observe him in action with his friends. It was also further proof that those personality/job match tests we used to take in school really did work. Kindergarten teacher was never one of the jobs recommended for me.

Cambel's classmates with their pumpkins

Cambel with this friend Ava, who he may or may not have developed a crush on--but you absolutely did not hear that from me and will never ever mention it to him.

We brought home some pumpkins to carve. We managed Cambel's fine, but Ada's was apparently genetically engineered to be made of steel, which of course made it impossible to cut. Luckily, she was content to color it.
