It's an auction! It's a blog! It's an auction on a blog!

Fundraising is not one of my favorite things. In fact, I would put it on my list of least favorite things to do. In short, I don't really like it at all.
But (you knew that was coming right?) international adoption is a pretty expensive way to bring home your child. We have been abundantly blessed in many ways and have been able to pay for about 75% of our adoption fees so far. That leaves us with about a quarter of the entire cost (see how good I am with math?) to raise between now and when our child comes home.  And we are humbly asking people to partner with us. We do see this as a partnership. Our son's story includes us, but it also includes you. Woven into our story of finding each other and becoming a family are those who have listened to us, encouraged us, prayed for us, oohed and aahed over our pictures of him, been patient with our frustrations with the process, and given to us financially to make this all possible. We are forever indebted to all of you and as we tell our son his story, you will be included.
We are raising money in a few ways. We have a coffee "store" at www.justlovecoffee/thebrownsplusone.com . When you buy coffee there we get a portion of the proceeds for our adoption.
We are also eligible to receive grant money from The Fatherless Foundation. Through this foundation you can give a tax-deductible donation that can be then given to us in the form of a grant. (For liability reasons, we have to state that all monies donated in the way are under the direction and control of the board of directors).
In November we are doing a fundraising run in Ligonier (my hometown)--more information to come on this one.
And on Friday the 16th we are running an online auction at www.thebrownsplusone.blogspot.com . So many people have generously donated their time and efforts, handmade gifts, food, cupcakes, babysitting, necklaces, hats, aprons, and much more. We are humbled by the willingness of our friends and family to support us in this. With Christmas creeping up on us, it is a great place to find gifts. Or just buy something for yourself.
Of course we realize that not everyone can give financially, and so we say with complete honesty that we will just as gladly be the recipients of your prayers and encouragement. If you do feel led to give, we would love for you to check out these sites, buy some coffee, or bid on an item in our auction.
Thank you in advance.
