Our tree is up, and although it is struggling to hang on to its vertical position, several branches are precariously close to falling off, and a couple of strings of lights have been added on top of the pre lit lights that refuse to shine, it doesn't look too bad (if you stand back, cock your head, and squint).
Cambel helped me put up the tree and decorate around the house and his enthusiasm was nothing if not enjoyable, contagious, and a slight obstacle to me actually getting the decorating done. But done it is. Everything that was deemed worthy of a place in our home is situated, and everything that would have been tossed or packed away has found a place in Cambel's room per his insistence that he knew just the spot for them. Even the lights that refused to work when I needed them for the tree and magically started working when I used them as a makeshift extension cord for a small tree in Cambel's room...thus the glowing mass under his dresser... have found a home.
So bring it on Christmas! If I can handle a dilapidated tree and the helpful energy of a 4 year old, buying and wrapping gifts, addressing and mailing cards, baking, planning, and packing for family gatherings should be easy!
