Last week my sister Anne, her daughter Lydia, and I all packed up, buckled up, and headed to Arkansas to visit our sister Emily and her husband Adriel and their beautiful little girl Eliana. 14 1/2 hours later we arrived at 1 am, just in time for Eliana's midnight feeding.
What a great time we all had together (not in the middle of the night, but the next 2 days), meeting Eliana, making freezer meals, cleaning, laughing, talking, and dispensing advice on babies from our virtual treasure store of wisdom (Okay, so maybe we just laughed a lot and made jokes about how life would never be the same again. Either way, I am sure it was helpful).
One of the great things about my sisters is that we really like each other. We laugh and joke and solve the world's problems and make fun of ourselves and discuss serious issues and celebrity gossip. We have been good friends through our single days, we have stood up in each others weddings, we have encouraged each other through the nauseous of pregnancy, the heartbreak of miscarriages, the joy of new babies, and the meltdown of postpartum hormones. My sisters have seen my at my absolute worst and they still let me drive all the way to Arkansas with them and stay in their homes and they are still my friend, which is like a sister only with a choice.
Needless to say (and I guess technically I already said it) we had a great time and we are counting down the days until we can be together again.
And if you want to see more pictures and read a fascinating commentary on our trip, Anne documented much better than I have here.

I think your version is good. I'm so glad you have a good relationship with your sisters. Praise the Lord for sisters!
where was your clan during the trip? We are going to Florida in February. I am dreading taking the kids on a plane again. I have considered driving, but it would eat up two days there and back.
ryan (or should i say big ryan?), the kids were with kevin on the weekend and then my mom. driving with kids is bad and so is flying. could you mail them?
good luck with your decision.
