There are days when the simple task of making the beds or cleaning the kitchen practically becomes a whole-day ordeal because I am endlessly interrupted with the many needs of my small charges. And some days my motherly suggestions (i.e. "go play"--because I just ooze creativity) aren't enough to distract them for any decent length of time. And some some days I just want to hear myself think without being interrupted by requests to locate a toy car or extract the ball from underneath the bed or construct a tent. And on these (rare?) days, I am just so thankful for PBS or movies from the library, or on this particular morning, a group of grown men who regularly get together and tape themselves operating battery powered rockets, trucks, helicopters and boats, and then post these videos on youtube. Thanks to these men having a little too much time on their hands, I get a little extra time on mine--a few moments of quiet while my preschoolers sit enraptured by a computer screen and the flight of a model helicopter or the trajectory of a small rocket, and the corresponding shouts and comments from these men who knew somewhere a busy mother needed them. I love you internets.
