A Little Christmas Chaos

We spent the few days after Christmas at Nana and Papa's. Between Kevin and his sisters, there are 6 grandkids 3 and under (and 5 of them are 2 and under). We had a great time, but needless to say, it was a bit chaotic. When we first arrived we had our "Christmas" together. Everyone wanted family pictures, which went well.

It seems we thought that these pictures were such a success that we should get a picture of all the grandkids together. We foolishly set about coordinating the sitting positions of each child. We tried for awhile before anyone said out loud it wasn't going to work (but I think everyone was thinking that to themselves from the very beginning. We were just so full of the Christmas spirit we hated to spoil such a lovely idea).

There was much slouching and wiggling and crying and running away...
And finally this was the shot we all worked so hard for...not quite Olan Mills, but we did manage to capture the chaos of the moment.

Speaking of chaos...after the dismal group picture we set about opening gifts. And then the real chaos descended upon us in full force. Nana sat patiently amid the cyclone of Christmas joy and calmly read out names and helped little hands open presents that sometimes weren't even theirs.
And Papa, well he also sat patiently--alone at the other end of the room.
Until he got a big hug from Cambel for one of his (many) gifts. And then the chaos seemed well worth it.
