And the winner is...

Today Kevin and Cambel ran a race in Lexington to raise money for the Hands and Feet Project (they work with orphans in Haiti). A kids run was part of the schedule, but no kids were signed up. They announced that they needed runners and they offered candy and Oliver was all in--even though he was the only kid. He bravely took to the starting line all alone, with one other adult that graciously joined to make it a "real" race. They shot the gun and Oliver took off and ran as fast as he could for about 100 feet when his shoe fell off. He calmly replaced his shoe (with a little help from his Dad) and then took off again, running all out. Needless to say he won, and it was a sweet victory--complete with a trophy for first place, a medal, bottled water, and some candy. (Yes, this might be the best day of his life so far).

A little pre-race talk with his competition
Cambel and Kevin ran the 5K, which ended up being more like 2.5 miles. Cambel finished strong--even ahead of his Dad--and has been talking about signing up for another one soon. Oliver will be right behind him, as long as there is candy.
