Christmas at home

This year we were able to be at home on Christmas morning (before we left for Indiana to spend a few days with my family). We went to a Christmas Eve service at church (where I was convinced that Oliver was going to burn the church down before we finished singing Silent Night while holding candles. Seriously, both my hair and the chair in front of came dangerously close to being engulfed in flames) and then came home to open the traditional pajamas and ornaments.
Oliver was happily ignorant of the fact that his "new" pajamas used to belong to Cambel...although since all the child wears is hand-me-downs he did later ask me whose they were.

Cambel can always be counted on for an excited reaction

This year I made the kids' ornaments by mod podge-ing their pictures onto craft wood. Thank you mom-on-pinterest-with-more-creativity-than-me

Reading the kids' their "stories" --this tradition always brings Kevin and I to (at least near) tears

They all wanted to share the guest bed. There was SO MUCH EXCITEMENT in the room I am not sure how they ever got to sleep.

Cambel received a soccer goal and he was predictably thrilled

This drum was a big hit for about 5 minutes before it fell apart. Not that I minded too terribly much...turns out drums are very loud

And we rounded out the big gifts with getting Ada a horse that fits her Our Generation dolls.

After opening all the gifts we packed up and headed to Indiana. On the way we got to visit our first neighbor, Gwen, in Noblesville, and we were able to meet our dear friends Jamie and Krista's new little girl who came home from Thailand just a few weeks ago. It was a full day and a good day.
