Picture Day

Ada got off the bus with a big sticker stuck to her chest reminding us that picture day is tomorrrow (which was Tuesday). Ada tore up the stairs to pick out some "beautiful" clothes. I went up later to find this:

Notice the pad of paper--that is a picture list of everything in the outfit, complete with checkmarks.

Well, perhaps she is a budding upscale fashion designer (I never think those models on the runway look like they are wearing matching clothes)...but I still managed to convince her that picking from her "church clothes" (something she isn't allowed to wear to school normally) would be a better alternative. She picked a more appropriate (if a bit ill-fitting) dress and added a necklace and her "high heels"--some fairly ugly black shoes with clunky heels that got passed down to her from a girl who is a lot older than her. I had to give into the heels because she gave up so much (the striped leggings! the polka dots! the shawl! the beach hat!). She then asked for lipstick and eyelashes, so I let her use my shiny lipgloss and I pretended to put some of my blush and mascara on her. I don't think she has ever left the door looking prouder of herself.

That girl. She keeps me on my toes that is for sure.
