St. Simons

We made our annual trek to St. Simon's Georgia for vacation with Kevin's family. This year, the days before we left and the trip there were, shall we say, not awesome.
A list of all the things that went wrong:
1. The van broke.
2. The car broke, and almost blew up, while the van was in the shop.
3. Ada had a fever and diarhea for a week.
4. Ada broke out in hives numerous times.
5. Ada got a bladder infection.
6. Oliver was teething. Again.
7. The van was fixed, but then the air conditioning broke.
All of this happened the week Kevin was in a friend's wedding. Needless to say, I was feeling a bit stressed, as was our budget. So, we made the decision to not fix the AC in the van and drive through the night to Georgia. It was a brilliant plan until Cambel threw up at 2 a.m. This required us to stop at a hotel. Management had to be thrilled to see us as we stood in the parking lot while Kevin checked us in watching Cambel (who could only find one shoe) doubled over in the landscaping. Two hours later, Oliver was STILL awake and Kevin and I were convinced we had entered purgatory. Morning dawned, however, as it always does, and we headed out to face the last half of the trip. I can assure you we were the only vehicle on the interstate with our windows down. It was so so hot. Ada kept breaking out in hives, Kevin got sunburned on the left side of his body, I was practically undressing trying to stay cool, Cambel was doped up on dramamine, and Oliver was surprisingly awake after pulling an all-nighter.
We looked like death when we finally arrived, but we made it. We unpacked and I spent the rest of the week relaxing and ignoring our impending drive home.
Despite all the stuff that went wrong and the terrible drive, we had a great week. We are blessed to have family that we genuinely enjoy being with and hanging out at the pool and the beach is always a hit with our family.

Also a hit--stuffing ourselves at Sandcastle-our favorite place to eat breakfast.

Heading out for a swim. The flash makes the difference in skin tone pretty stark:)

Enjoying the pool.

Cambel purchased a snorkeling set before we left and he loved it.

I love the "walking to the ocean pictures" (especially when Kevin is wearing pink goggles).

Another favorite--swimsuit wedgies.
