Great Grandparents

My grandpa and grandma were finally able to meet Oliver--their 11th great grandchild. We had a brief break in the illnesses that have been plaguing our family for the past couple of months and we made the trip to their house in Upland  (good timing too...we started yet another round of colds, coughs, and ear infections several days later).
My grandparents have been faithfully praying for Oliver since we found out about him, so having them meet was pretty special.
My grandma's father, who was a great evangelist, felt strongly that he was given Psalm 2:8 as his promise from God as he sought to preach the story of Christ: "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance." That promise has been fulfilled in many ways, beginning with my grandparents serving as missionaries in Bolivia and then Paraguay. Later their daughter and her husband worked many years in Argentina. Another of their sons regularly travels internationally for preaching and teaching and my dad works for a mission organization. Three of their grandchildren live oversees. All the nations...
But I believe the legacy of that promise is being fulfilled in a new way--as "the nations" become part of their family.  I am sure my great grandfather had no idea that part of the fulfillment of God's promise would come in the form of a little boy from the Congo (and eventually 2 children from Azerbaijan that my cousin and his wife are adopting).
