I have known Bethany since she was a little girl. We grew up in the same church, and then Kevin and I led the college Sunday School class that she was a part of. And then when we moved to Anderson, we still got to be a part of her life because she wasn't far away at Taylor University. We were so excited when she introduced us to Dustin, and we weren't surprised when they were engaged.
We were happy to be a part of their wedding day, but I have to say that I experienced no small degree of stress and anxiety about both of my children participating happily in pictures and walking down the aisle without any major mishaps.
Thankfully, Kevin and I discovered that when used sparingly and only in emergency situations, bribery can be a very effective parenting tool.
I breathed a deep sigh of relief when the pictures were successfully taken and Cambel and Ada walked confidently (and quite cutely) down the aisle.
All the stress kept me from making them pose for more pictures, so this is all I have of the day:
Ada getting her hair done (thank goodness for that blankie, which has saved the day on more than one occasion).
Here is a lovely shot of the two of them. Ada is holding one of her bribes--special lipgloss.
Thankfully Bethany employed someone to photograph her wedding day who wasn't preoccupied with bribing small children. (On a side note, I grew up with Jandie, who now owns a photography business with her husband, And let me tell you--they are FABULOUS. I don't know that anyone takes better pictures...and they didn't even pay me to tell you that). You can see a few of those pictures here. I think you will agree that Dustin and Bethany are a lovely couple, Jandie and Aaron are great photographers, and all of the bribery was in fact more than worth it.
