One of the Girls

In the last week we have sent our boy to Kindergarten on the school bus, and apparently also become parents of a tween girl. On Saturday we attended a pool party/cookout with our small group from church. When we were ready to eat, Ada said she wanted to sit with her friends--"those girls." Confused, since there are no girls near her age in the group, we questioned her further and discovered she was referring to the daughters of our friends who are 10-13 years old. She boldly went and ate her dinner with them and talked with them like she was one of them. She directed them in what to do next and held their hands. If not for the difference in height, you may have mistaken her for a tween.
Except that she wet her pants.
It looks like bladder incontinence is the only thing separating us from being parents of an adolescent. Heaven help us.
