One of Kevin's friend from college is in the Coast Guard and is currently stationed in Savannah. So one afternoon we visited Jim and got a tour of the Coast Guard facilities, including the emergency helicopters. Afterwards we had dinner with Jim and his family in downtown Savannah--we decided it is such a fascinating city that next time we come we'll have to spend the night here and see more of it.
The building that housed the helicopters was immaculate. The floor was cleaner than my kitchen floor (which may not be saying much) and I am thinking about hiring the Coast Guard to clean my house.
Unfortunately, besides running around, Ada's favorite part of the tour was picking up leaves from outside and throwing them into the drains--I am sure the Coast Guard was thrilled (and she probably ruined my shot of hiring them for our house).
Cambel was so excited to see the helicopters
Along the historic River Street in downtown.
