Lake Trip

Now that we are a little further south, we are closer to one of Kevin's favorite spots--his parent's lake cabin. He (and now we) love this place because it is quiet and secluded and beautiful in every season--a real respite from the noise and busyness of everyday life. (Of course, my usual definition of respite does not include an enormous spider crawling up my shoulder. But no matter, the screaming panic that ensued was only a small blurb on our otherwise calm and relaxed visit).
What we enjoyed so much on this particular weekend was being together as a family. It is good to fall back into a rhythm together, to occupy the same spaces, and to discover that we still like each other.

On the drive there, this was the view from the front seat. Ada, reading quietly and Cambel inspecting his gun so that he could hunt bears as soon as we arrived (I guess his version of quiet respite is a little different from mine).
