Bear Grylls takes on the living room

Now that the weather has turned frightfully cold, cloudy, and windy, Cambel is stuck inside. Luckily he has been watching a lot of  Man vs. Wild with his dad.  This, coupled with his vivid imagination has resulted in Bear Grylls braving the landscape of our living room.
First, he sets up his tent (seen below), which thankfully is waterproof because every time he gets in it, it starts to rain.
Interestingly enough, the side of the tent is also a rocket, from which you can watch a movie. This usually doesn't happen on Man vs. Wild, but then Bear also doesn't carry a Dr. Seuss backpack or burn toys to keep warm.

Next comes the building of the fire. Cambel/Bear is quite resourceful and in this rugged terrain he burns whatever he can to keep warm...which in this case is matchbox cars, a few items of play food, and a Happy Meal toy. He starts the fire by rubbing together some random utensils.

He survives until his mom (the camera crew) rescues him from the living room and feeds him lunch.
The tent (along with every blanket and pillow in the house--not all are pictured here)

In other news, at the ripe old age of 29 I am probably 70% gray (the world is a very unfair place). So every 6 weeks or so I color my hair (and you thought I was naturally a dead match for "Nice and Easy Light Ash Brown #14?).  This time Ada happened to be awake for my beauty ritual.  And I nearly scared her to death. She just kept looking at me and sobbing. I guess the purple/black wet hair piled on my head and the blotches of dye on my skin and the overwhelming smell of the chemicals leeching into my hair follicles was just a little too much for her-- and despite my attempts to calm and reassure her with my voice, she didn't seem to believe it was me. My only option besides washing the dye out early (and this really wasn't an option because when it comes to finishing the dye job and comforting me child, I am pretty much always going to choose the dye) was to put her in her crib. And thankfully for her I returned as soon as possible with my gray roots successfully camouflaged, and she accepted me again as her mother.
